Comings and Goings

A statement from Hillary B. Smith (Nora, OLTL) about her recent contract signing appeared on co-star Kassie DePaiva’s (Blair, OLTL) official Web site, www.kassiedepaiva.com, as well as on Nora Fans Unite (www.voy.com/199349/), a site created by fans of the actress. Smith said that the snag in her contract negotiations involved her belief that OLTL no longer had “any real interest in writing for Nora at this time.” Smith stated that she had a conversation with President of ABC Daytime Brian Frons that “opened the door for a creative resolution to the problem that was staring us in the face. He wished for more time. So, the next day I offered to extend my contract for one year to give him that time…This ‘one year’ was my idea. ABC did not short-change me. Brian and I are both pleased with the extension.” Smith also thanked fans for their love, concern and support, and said that she hopes the next time Nora appears on-screen she will be out of the coma. “I know, you’ll all miss my Emmy-worth breathing!” she joked. “Don’t worry, it’s on my reel.”
