Asa’s Will Shockers on OLTL

The Buchanan clan is in for some major jolts this week when Asa’s videotaped will is screened at the ranch. “Asa’s will is very surprising, and how everything is left is even more surprising,” previews Hillary B. Smith (Nora). “Everyone gets something that means something.”

First, Asa drops the bombshell that he has a long-lost son roaming the planet. Asa doesn’t reveal the man’s identity and neither does Nigel, who receives an important letter with strict instructions to not unveil its contents until the time is right. Meanwhile, everyone’s clamoring to find out who is the missing link. “Nigel’s like, ‘Nope! I will honor Mr. Buchanan’s wishes.’ It’s fabulous. I can’t say anything more, but I think it’s wonderful the way it all plays out,” shares Smith.

The Buchanans are also floored when some hot-ticket items go to certain non-family members. “Nora and Matthew inherit the mansion and they get enough money to run it, but with a stipulation – because Asa always has to be in control of everything, even after he’s gone,” muses Smith. “She’s completely shocked, and then, of course, she has to sit there and look at Renee and Clint and Jessica and Natalie and go, ‘I swear…I had no idea.”

And Asa’s got one more trick up his sleeve. “The hard goods, as I like to call them – the house, the island, the yacht, big purple diamonds and stuff – get left right off the bat, and then the interesting thing comes,” explains Smith. “It all becomes about Asa and his control, and that, I think, is the twist of Asa’s legacy.”

Expect a few more twists and turns when David, Alex and Dorian show up later in the week. Clint and Nora have been bonding while in Texas, and Dorian doesn’t like what she finds when she goes looking for Clint. “[For] Dorian showing up there, the timing couldn’t have been worse,” winks Smith.
