Happy Birthday to me!
I wanted to write a little something about my favorite actress, Hillary B Smith.
Oct. 17th I turned 28 yrs old and usually (every year) I attend Martha Byrnes,
St. Judes' event in NY. Well this yr I was unable to attend but because I have
such a love for New York City, I decided to go and have lunch and just hang out
in the city for awhile. My mom and I arrived early so we could go to my favorite
little coffee shop, STARBUCKS! Of course any "One Life" fan that goes to the
city cannot possibly walk around without strolling by the studio, just to check
and see who you can spot. Well anyone that knows me, knows I absolutely adore
Hillary B Smith and Robert S Woods. (How can you not?) So, (me) being the fan
that I am starts thinking how AWESOME it would be to see one of my favorites on
my b-day.
I have always been a daytime fanatic. One Life To Live has always been my
favorite show. Woods has ALWAYS been my #1 Soap Guy. When it comes to actresses
that I admire, there's a lot! I have always wanted to be an actress so there are
many wonderful performers that I respect. NONE, more than Hillary B Smith!! She
has been my favorite actress for the past nine years and will forever be my
IDOL. I admire her not only for her outstanding work on One Life (and everything
she has done as an actress) but also for her wonderful ability to make her fans
feel appreciated and important. She has always been so very nice and outgoing
and also fun to be around.
As we were walking up towards the studio, I noticed from afar Ms. Hill standing
outside the studio talking with some fans. (also anyone that knows me, knows I'm
not exactly a chatterbox around her!) I do tend to get a little nervous, after
all, she is my Idol and the fact that I get to see her every now and then blows
me away!! I always like to drop off flowers at the studio when I go to the city,
just to let her know how great she is and how appreciated she is. So yes, I had
flowers in my hands to drop off but didn't think I'd see her that day. WOW! What
a great birthday present. She was so incredibly nice. It was funny because I was
nervous (Of course) but my mom goes running across the street to talk to her and
almost gets hit by a flying yellow taxi cab. LOL Any way, Hill was great and
just as we were leaving but who should come walking down the street, Yep, that's
right good looking Bob Woods. Ok, was he not the perfect ending to a perfect day
or what? He was so terrific. I had my picture taken with him and also cutie
patootie, Ty Treadway. ( talk about HOT!!)
So I wanted to write and say Thank You to these wonderful One Lifers who made
this fans birthday a great one! Every time I get to see Hillary, Its a dream
come true. Thank you Hillary! You know how terrific I think you are, YOU'RE THE
BEST!!
Also, from one Hill fan to another, to my friend, Angela Zilafro:
I know I tell you this all the time but I'm going to say it again. Thank You for
your friendship. You have become a very dear friend to me. I guess that's
another thing I should thank Hillary for. (THANKS HILL) I can't tell you enough,
what a WONDERFUL job you do with this fan club. Its the best. Then again,
Hillary fans are the best!!!

How I Met Hillary
Last March, while watching ONE LIFE TO LIVE I heard an advertisement promoting A
DAYTIME TO REMEMBER, which was a special 1/2 hour show to showcase the best of
the ABC soaps. This show was to fill the time slot of the cancelled THE CITY
before PORT CHARLES started. The week that OLTL was to start its weeks of airing
different OLTL stars appeared on March 31, 1997 at various "Planet Hollywood's"
around the country. Hillary B. Smith and Robert Woods were scheduled to appear
in the Chicago one, but due to unforeseen problems they appeared at the "Planet
Hollywood" in Woodfield Mall in Schaumburg, Illinois.
Since I love Hillary and Bob so much, I planned to go see them again. (I had
briefly met them at the OLTL luncheon in New York City in April of '96.) I
called the Chicago PH that afternoon to ask for directions and details of the
appearance. I was told that it was switched to the mall. I called that PH and
was told the details and to come early to tell the people there some things
about the stars.
So my daughter went with me, and we explained the characters of Nora and Bo to
the the people in charge of the event. In payment for that they gave us each a
blue DAYTIME TO REMEMBER t-shirt with ABC soaps, All MY CHILDREN, ONE LIFE TO
LIVE, and GENERAL HOSPITAL on the back. They also let us be the first ones to
meet and greet Hillary and Bob. They both hugged and kissed me and were very
appreciative of what I had said and done. I had brought some pictures of them
from the OLTL luncheon, which they each signed. Then they posed for some
pictures with me that was put in our newspaper. There was ABC TV cameras there
also filming. They told me to watch the 10pm news that night, which I did. Lo
and behold, there we were on the news with Hillary and Bob, while my voice was
in the background explaining the characters of Nora and Bo!!!
It was a very exciting experience and one I will never forget. Hillary is so
gracious and friendly, and Bob is so gentlemanly. They are lovely people and
fine actors!!!
