Dear Bo and Nora Fans,

ABC just sent me a response to an article that Jerry (Ver Dorn) and I gave about Clint and Nora. The response was written by someone that I know and have always appreciated and I was very sorry to see her so upset.

Soap operas are an interesting animal. It is a place where actors can come and stay and perform in storylines that they may never have had the opportunity to play in another medium. It is a place where people build loyalties and ties that bind both on screen and off. And yet, we are there to tell the stories that the writers give us if we are lucky enough to have writers write for us at all. We are also responsible for promoting these stories. I have been blessed with many wonderful leading men over the years. And I was truly blessed to be a part of a dynamic known as “Bo and Nora”. I cherish those memories and I look forward to playing the history when it appears in the scripts. I also look forward to my days working with Jerry Ver Dorn as he is a consummate professional and just plain fun. To enjoy myself working with a kind, dedicated and professional man such as Jerry does not mean that I dismiss all the history of the past. It means that I am enjoying the present which is my motto. And I am looking forward to the future wherever that may lead and to whomever that may lead me to. My comment about the “Bo and Nora” fans was an acknowledgement to a group of hard core fans that have always had my respect. It was my way of acknowledging that this group of people have a strong opinion, are a loyal fan base and aren’t going to go along easily with just any pairing. If my words were misconstrued or understood as dissing that fan-base, it was completely contrary to my intentions. I merely wanted to give the “Bo and Nora” fans a well-deserved nod knowing that if any pairing won over their approval, it would be a pairing worth watching.

As Always….. the Very Best,
Hillary B Smith
