It is with great sadness that I write
this: Phil Carey passed away yesterday afternoon after a three year
valiant fight with cancer. He was a light in my life around the studio. A
big man, with a big heart that hated the idea that he had such a big
heart. It is amazing to lose Clint Richie and Phil Carey in the same week,
and yet I don’t think they would have wanted it any other way. I just hope
they both end up in the same place or there will be Hell to
pay….literally. Phil’s presence on the show is still palpable and will
always be felt. I miss him. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family.
Phil rest; the fight is over; you can go home now.
I love you,
Hillary

I am saddened by the
news of Clint Ritchie’s passing. I had the honor of working with him
long after I became a die-hard fan of his work. He was a tender-hearted
soul wrapped up in a tough cowboy exterior. He smiled with a naughty
twinkle, would pass you in the hall with a wink and a pinch and lived
his life with an uncontained passion. What a guy! Here’s to you, Clint!

Dear Fans,
There are many traits I respect and admire within each of you, one of
which consists of your wonderfully generous spirit. You have steadfastly
supported me in my professional life as well as in numerous charitable
endeavors, and I have been overwhelmed by your generosity throughout the
years. Your thoughtfulness has brought a smile to my face countless
times and I consider myself blessed to know each and every one of you.
My good friend Lindsay
Harrison and I co-founded an endowment for the CA-based Sherman Oaks
Veterinary Group some years ago. The fund was created to honor the
memory of our beloved pets, and to assist other pet owners who were
struggling to provide care for their furry friends in the event that
their veterinary expenses grew monumental or overwhelming. While nothing
can ease the pain of losing a beloved pet, there is great satisfaction
in assisting fellow pet owners in need.
Everyone has been deeply impacted by the current economy, and some of
the hardest hit within our society at present are pet owners. In light
of this, I wish to request a favor of you. I would be immensely grateful
if, in lieu of gifts which you may send to me throughout the year, you
would instead direct your contributions to this endowment fund so that
others may benefit from your thoughtful generosity. Contributions
should be made payable to Sherman Oaks Veterinary Hospital and sent to:
Sherman Oaks Veterinary Group
ATTN: Jan, The Willie-Coppee Fund
13624 Moorpark Street
Sherman Oaks, CA 91423
Alternatively, you can visit the
Willie-Coppee Fund website for other ways to contribute.
Lindsay will routinely
forward me a list of the names and addresses of those who donate to the
fund, so please know that your contribution will not go unnoticed. You
will definitely be hearing from me!
All My Love,
Hillary
